Recycled wooden deck chair, acrylic paint, Mod Podge

I enjoy taking materials and recycling them for my art projects, especially wood as it feels like a waste to throw it away. I had a rotting wooden, garden chair and decided to dismantle it and sand it off to make planks. With it assembled to create a canvas, I wanted to depict a woman in traditional Ukrainian dress as I was inspired by a set of photography that I had seen at the time however, I also was researching a lot of folklore. As a result, I decided to incorporate Ukrainian traditional dress with feathers to create a Phoenix woman. With the painting done I felt that I wanted to do more with the canvas hence, I cut around the form and carved some wood away to create a 3D canvas.
