This piece had come as a reaction to the new reality Ukraine, my family and I were living through. The phrase ‘Slava Ukraini’ translates to ‘Glory to Ukraine’ this is a phrase that extends much further than its literal meaning and is often followed with ‘Glory to our Heros.’ The reality is that our people have been fighting for our freedom since our origin and the faces signify this battle to have the right to have our own culture and customs through the use of patterns. It is our identity. This phrase is our respect for our motherland, for all those who fought before us, all those fighting for us now and for the future of those who will continue our culture. I wanted to be explicit. We will win what is rightfully ours. Slava Ukraini took around 150 hours.
